It’s one of the city’s oldest temples and can be dated back to nearly 1300 old, ( 8th century), which makes it one of the oldest in India. It’s dedicated to Lord Shiva, who is referred to as Nageshwara. The temple is located in Begur Village.

There is 5 linga in the temple, that’s why it is known as  Pancha Linga Nageshwara Temple. The name of 5 lings are Sri Nageshwara, Choleshwara, Kali Kamateshwara, Karaneshwara, and NagareshwaraThe first shrine 2 shrines named Nageshvara and Nageshvarasvami were established during the reign of the Ganga Dynasty (Kings Nitimarga I and Ereyappa Nitimarga II, ruler of the dynasty). The other three shrines were established by Chola Dynasty in the 11th century.

There are inscriptions on the inner walls of the temple which were written in Kannada and Tamil.

Architecture

The temple has a square Sanctum and antarala that connects the sanctum to the mandapa The hall has 6 pillars. 

The halls have various sculptures which include Chamundeshwari, lord Ganesh, Sri Ramalinga, and Kalabhairava.

There are various yantras carved on the ceilings and floors. It is believed that performing Meditation at a particular spot brings positive energy to the body.

The closest metro station is Yelachenahalli  (green line) and from there, it is just a short 10-minute drive by car. Alternatively, you can take an auto-rickshaw or even walk for about an hour to reach the temple. The nearest bus stop is Hongasandra MICO Layout.
