The temple construction started in 2002. But, Sri Shivapuri Mahaswamiji was not able to complete it as he attained Samadhi. Later his disciple (e, Sri Madhusudhanananda Puri Swamiji ) became his successor and he completed the temple

The key auspicious feature of this temple is that all the twelve lingams of Jyoterlings are made of up stones of the River Narmada.
And, beneath each jyotirlinga, there are 1008 Narmadeshwara Lingas. The size of these lingas is around an inch.
